I’m reaching out personally because I want you to be the first to know that I just launched my re-election campaign for 2024. Here’s the thing: flipping this seat blue in 2022 was tough, but holding it in 2024 will be even harder now that Kevin McCarthy has named me a top target and already backed my far-right, extremist opponent. So I have to ask you immediately — will you split a donation of $10 between my campaign and Martin Heinrich today and become a Founding Donor to my re-election campaign? But in 2017, when I saw all the hateful things far-right extremists were saying about people like my mother — who is a proud Mexican immigrant, single mom, and hard worker — I knew New Mexico needed someone who understood our values. We needed someone to step up and fight for us. Our community deserves better. I love every part of this district, the unique culture and history. And I’ve been to every corner of it! Your support is how I pulled this off the first time. It wasn’t easy. I wasn’t hand-picked by the establishment, and the folks in Washington said there was no way we could flip this seat blue. But every day I woke up determined to show my community they had a choice in their future. I won with less than one percent of the vote. I know it’s going to be even harder this time around. I’m in a rematch against a far-right extremist who voted against taking away women’s choice and slashing funding for New Mexico. Kevin McCarthy is angry that we flipped this seat last year, and he’s determined to spend as much money as necessary to win it back simply because there’s a (D) behind my name. The best way to fight back against these right-wing extremists is to show them that our people-powered campaign is stronger than ever — especially in these first critical days.
