We are deeply saddened by the tragedies in El Paso and Dayton. Our country mourns the 29 innocent lives stolen too soon by unthinkable gun violence.

We send all of our prayers and condolences to the families and friends of the victims -- but we owe them more. It would be a disservice to those lost if we do not act now.

We cannot allow ourselves to become numb as we hear about another (and another) mass shooting. We must address this issue in every way. It's time for strong gun safety laws, yes, but there is so much more. We need to focus on mental health resources, dismantle systemic hate and white supremacy that leads to domestic terrorism, and stand up to the NRA and gun lobby once and for all.

This is far too important of an issue to ignore -- now is the time to stand united together.

The House has passed bipartisan gun reform -- and now, it is up to the Senate to act. Immediately. Our country yearns for a solution, and it is the job of Congress to work to prevent the loss of more innocent lives.

We need to be a part of the change, the solution, to ending the plague of gun violence in this country.

Today, we send our love to those dealing with the unthinkable. Today, we will also vow to work tirelessly so that we end the death toll of gun violence. For the victims, their loved ones, and our future. We won't stop fighting for real solutions -- we hope you stand with us.
