Almost every headline I see these days is a stark reminder of our potential reality if Republicans take control of the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates in November. I just saw another one that read: “Republicans eyeing a 15-week abortion ban.” This is a pretty clear signal it will be one of their top legislative priorities if they take full control in Richmond this November.

Republicans must think Virginians will sit by and accept a 15-week abortion ban. But we know that Virginians’ real consensus is that private medical decisions belong with women and their doctors, not politicians.

And it’s not just Virginia. In state after state, it’s clear that voters want the freedom to access reproductive care – and since we’re the last state in the South without some form of an abortion restriction, we have a duty to women in our neighboring states coming to us for help to stop this terrifying reality from happening.
