Let me tell you something, friend: As a Black woman who grew up in the south, I know what it means to struggle.

I've been the girl who couldn't drink from the same water fountain as her white peers. The girl who had to work with the NAACP just to earn a spot on her high school cheerleading team. I've been the single parent, the one who couldn't afford child care and who brought her kids to class with her. But through it all, I never gave up. I persevered.

That's why I'm so committed to building a better and more just future for all of us. Because everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve the American dream, just like I did. It's why, for decades, I've been leading the fight on issues such as tackling homelessness, addressing economic injustice, protecting reproductive rights, promoting LGBTQ+ equality and so much more – long before it became popular in mainstream politics to do so. In fact, it's how I became known as the "OG Progressive."

Friend, you'd be hard-pressed to find another member of Congress with my background and experience. And in the Senate, you won't even find a single member that looks like me. That's a large part of why I'm running – because representation matters. Experience matters.

The Senate has long been absent of the experiences, knowledge and voice of a Black woman like me fighting to advance the issues that matter to you and your family most. So please, if you believe in my story, my campaign and my ability to create true change, will you donate $5 or more right now to help me win this competitive primary and take my fight for a progressive future for all to the U.S. Senate? >>
