There’s a lot at stake for Governor in Louisiana. Do you believe locking up people longer will make us safer? Should Louisiana begin State executions again? Can you live on $7.25 an hour? (do you think other families can?) Should we roll back medicaid expansion? Do voting rights matter? Should we fully fund early childhood education?
I’m Dr. Shawn Wilson. I’m in a very competitive race for Governor of Louisiana, and there’s a lot at stake.
Besides over-incarceration and State executions, divisive and hateful policies like banning books, banning African-American history, and Don’t Say Gay are all on the line this election. Many of these discriminatory policies already passed the Louisiana Legislature—that’s why our Governor’s veto pen is the last stand.
This race is crucial – not just for Louisiana, but for the entire country. How many of you posted messages of empathy to social media after devastating policies passed in Georgia, Florida, and elsewhere? This is your opportunity to get involved in a race worth winning.
With your support, we can protect recent gains like criminal justice reform and focus on the true work ahead: to uplift our communities and enact policies that make us safer, smarter, healthier, and wealthier. Born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana, I understand the challenges that our state faces, and I’ve dedicated my life to addressing them. As a civil servant, I’ve worked tirelessly over 25 years within both Democratic and Republican administrations to improve infrastructure, transportation, and overall quality of life. Now, driven by a deep commitment to making this state a better place for everyone, I’m running for Governor.
