In the past year alone, extremists nationwide have passed 1,477+ book bans in public libraries and schools – a 21-year high.
These bans are a clear effort to target and silence voices of color and LGBTQ+ stories as states like Florida take steps to eliminate discussion of race and gender identity in schools.
