You know the saying – fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. That’s what Washington Democrats must be saying to Biden this week after reports came out that Bidenomics has, for the second year in a row, decreased hardworking Americans’ wages.
Everyone outside of the liberal elite knew that Bidenomics was a bad deal from day one. They learned it again last year, when inflation reached forty-year highs and their wages failed to keep up with the rising cost of everything. Inexplicably, this administration’s answer to Americans’ suffering was to double down on more of the same failed policies that got us here in the first place, passing the misnamed Inflation “Reduction” Act.
Now, more than a year later, inflation remains elevated and real median post-tax income has declined once again, falling 8.8 percent relative to 2021. To put that into perspective, we haven’t seen this level of decline since the Great Recession of 2008.
Here we have a president who has tried, and failed, for two years now to make his economic agenda successful. But instead of learning from his party’s failures and listening to the public, 71 percent of whom say the economy is bad, his party is pushing for the unthinkable: more runaway government spending.
Instead of stifling innovation and pumping more taxpayer dollars into the economy, Congress needs to focus on cutting red-tape, right-sizing the bloated bureaucracy, and reining in reckless spending.
It’s a tale as old as time: when the government spends more, you have less. We’re not just seeing it in the numbers, we’re feeling it in our wallets, and at this point pain is no longer a symptom, it’s the purpose of this administration’s anti-American policymaking.

In this week's edition of Buddy's Briefing, we're discussing an important bill that I co-sponsored which passed the House this week.

Monday, September 11, 2023: My week starts off with a live interview on SquawkBox on CNBC as I discuss the proposed use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as well as my legislation proposing the Fair Tax. The Fair Tax plan is a 23% consumption tax that will replace payroll and income taxes and potentially do away with the IRS.
Later in the morning, I head to the Savannah Fire Station on Oglethorpe Ave where I participate in a 9/11 ceremony and present a copy of a tribute that I entered into the Congressional Record honoring firefighters from the station who saved a girl from drowning earlier this year. It is important that, on 9/11, we pay tribute to the family members of those who lost their lives during the worst terrorist attack in our country’s history and to our first responders, who keep us safe every day.
Next, I head to Southside Savannah where I join the Savannah Exchange Club for their weekly meeting. This great group is dedicated to the mission of inspiring communities to become better places to live and supports many worthwhile programs in the Savannah Area including the Jenkins Athletic Club.
Afterwards, in honor of today being the National Day of Service and Remembrance, I head to The Blood Connection on Victory Dr. where I donate blood. Our blood supply is at critically low levels now and donations are vitally needed.
Next, I head to our Savannah district office where I meet with constituents who share with me their experiences of not being able to obtain prescription medications due to the egregious practices of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). PBMs are middlemen in the drug pricing world who drive up the prices of prescription medications and bring no value to the health care system.

Tuesday, September 12, 2023: I’m in Glynn County on St. Simons Island this morning as I greet my former colleagues from the Georgia State Senate who are holding a planning retreat in the area this week. Afterwards, I have a radio interview with my good friend, John Fredericks, as we discuss the budget situation in Washington and the potential for a government shutdown.
Next, I have the honor of addressing the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA) as they are having their annual board and membership meeting here this week. HDA is the national organization representing health care distributors who provide a vital link between the nation’s pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmacies, and hospitals.
Afterwards, I head to the Jacksonville airport for my flight to Washington and, during the drive, I join in on our all-staff conference call. Once at the airport, I have a virtual call with our communications and legislative teams to discuss the upcoming week in Washington.
Once back in Washington, I have a call with the President/CEO of ACA-Connects to discuss tomorrow’s hearing in the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Communications and Technology (C&T) Subcommittee on the state of the media marketplace. Then, I meet with representatives from the Independent Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers Association to discuss their priorities for the year before meeting with Veterans of Foreign Wars. Next, I meet with members of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce who are in Washington for their annual fly-in.
Afterwards, I head to a member meeting of E&C as we discuss the schedule for this week before heading to our weekly Whip Team meeting. Finally, I head to the House chamber for our first vote series of the week. During votes, we have a moment of silence to honor the victims of the Maui Wildfire.

Wednesday, September 13, 2023: I’m up early this morning as I head off Capitol Hill for an off-the-record meeting with representatives from the New York Post. Afterward, I head to the Washington studios of Fox News as I join a panel on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria, and we discuss the latest economic numbers released today.
Once back on Capitol Hill, I head to our weekly GOP Conference meeting where we discuss our plans on how to deal with the upcoming budget deadline of September 30th. Next, I head to the House chamber where I pay tribute to James Shaw from Brunswick who recently passed, long-time Savannah Christian Preparatory School baseball coach Carl Carter, and Greg Pikren from Brunswick who recently passed.
Afterwards, I head to an E&C Energy Subcommittee hearing on grid reliability where I wave on and ask questions. Once back in my office, I meet with representatives from Kinder Morgan to discuss energy policies in our country. Next, I head to the Agriculture Committee hearing room in the Longworth Office Building where I speak at the 2nd annual naloxone training on the Hill symposium. I take my backpack with me to this meeting so I can show them the naloxone that I carry in my backpack everywhere I go.
After attending a meeting of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC) where we hear from my good friend and former House colleague, Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), regarding the need to reform FISA, I head to the House chamber for our first vote series of the day.
After meeting with representatives from the Georgia Credit Union Association, I head to an E&C C&T subcommittee hearing on the state of the media marketplace. During the afternoon, I have a series of meetings including with Urban One, 1Day Sooner, Balfour Beatty Communities, my good friend and former Georgia State Senate colleague Judson Hill (R-Atl), the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association (GADA), Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Source America, and FCI Jesup. Later, I meet with members of the Georgia State Chamber of Commerce who are visiting before meeting with the CEO of Pfizer, Dr. Albert Bourla.

Thursday, September 14, 2023: Our special guest at our weekly GOP Doctors Caucus meeting this morning is Sen Bill Cassidy (R-LA) who shares with us legislation he has introduced dealing with PBMs. Afterwards, I head to a specially called GOP conference where we discuss the impeachment inquiry that has been started in the House.
Once back in my office, I meet with representatives from DirectTV before heading to an E&C Health Subcommittee hearing on drug shortages. Returning to my office, I meet with representatives from Shell Oil before heading to the Ways and Means Committee member day hearing where I present legislation that I have before the committee.
Once back in my office, I record this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing before heading to the House chamber for our first vote series of the day. Next, I meet with the International Fresh Produce Association in the Rayburn room in the Capitol before taking photos on the plaza with our newest interns.
Returning to the House chamber, I speak during debate on HR 1435, the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act, before heading to the House Recording Studio where I record a video for an upcoming health care association meeting.
Next, I return to the House chamber for our second and final vote series of the day. Afterwards, I pay tribute to Jerry Willis Keith from Jesup who recently passed before heading to the airport for my return trip home.

Friday, September 15, 2023: I’m pleased to be live on the Chris Salcedo Show on Newsmax today as we discuss the pending impeachment inquiry on President Joe Biden and other news of the day. Later in the evening, I am honored to be the guest speaker at the Independent Electrical Contractors graduation as we congratulate five new graduates of this great program. Our skilled workforce is vital to the growth of our district and of our country. We are fortunate to add these graduates to our workforce.
