House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has called for an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. Rather than focusing on real issues facing Americans like the cost of living and gun violence, MAGA Republicans are desperately seizing any opportunity to impeach Biden, despite the glaring absence of any credible evidence.

We cannot stand idly by as the same MAGA Republicans who engaged in a criminal conspiracy to overthrow the will of the people use their power to block what our families need, wreak havoc on our economy, and peddle their propaganda through sham impeachment proceedings. This is not about justice or accountability; it's a blatant abuse of power aimed at undermining President Biden and helping Trump.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-Calif.) audacity knows no bounds; he's abandoned his own pledge that an impeachment inquiry would only proceed if the House voted for it. Now, he's caving to the far-right elements of his party, throwing caution and integrity to the wind in his latest endorsement of impeaching President Joe Biden.

Even within the Republican Party, there's a lack of consensus on whether to proceed with this impeachment inquiry. Reps. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and Mike Lawler (R-N.Y.), both from districts that Biden won in 2020, have expressed their reservations. Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) stated that "there is not a strong enough connection" between any evidence on Hunter Biden and the President himself. Republicans know there is no legitimacy to the inquiry.

This baseless impeachment inquiry is nothing more than an attack to undermine President Biden and distract from Trump and MAGA GOP's many indictments as we head into an election year. We cannot stand idly by as our democracy is threatened by partisan witch hunts. Impeachment cannot become a tool for political vendettas.
