Greetings True Texans!
Fran here - Julie is on vacation in Alaska, and has left me in charge. How scary is that? Let's see how much damage I can do.
In case you've been on another planet and haven't heard - AG Ken Paxton was acquitted of all impeachment articles on Saturday. The vote was mostly along party lines with Republican Senators Robert Nichols and Kelly Hancock voting with the Democrats to impeach on most of the articles. TTP has been on the front line of this issue since the beginning. Our statewide True Texan army was built for such a time as this, and we showed up stronger than any other grassroots group in the state.
A big thank you to everyone who called, emailed, attended the trial, spent hours in front of the computer watching, and posted on social media. This is a huge victory for grassroots activists!
CAUTION! POTENTIAL TAX HIKES AHEAD!
I hope you've all been paying attention to your local governments who are in the process of setting property tax rates. We can congratulate quite a few of them for adopting the No New Revenue Rate or something below that rate. But many are just growing their budgets, and sticking it to the taxpayers. Only YOU - as citizens - can put a stop to it. Demand better.
What is your local government doing with property tax rates? I'd really like to know and to feature the best and the worst in one of the Friday Messages. So send me your good guys/bad guys reports. Email me at [email protected]
And have you seen what Dade Phelan is sending to his constituents? They seem to only be going to the older crowd. Does he think we're stupid because we're old? Apparently!
And, it seems, Dade accomplished this remarkable feat
all by himself:
"Tax Cut Champion"? I'll withhold comment on that cause if I say what I think, I'll probably get in trouble. But bottom line - whatever the state does or does not do about property taxes, the amount of taxes you pay lies solely with your local government elected representatives. Hold them accountable!
I'd like to take a moment to brag on my own school district trustees in the Keller ISD. Last Monday, in a special meeting, the Trustees approved a resolution to withhold its next state-mandated recapture payment. Keller ISD joins Spring ISD last week in just saying no to Robin Hood Recapture. The Keller vote was 5 to 1, with one Trustee absent. You can watch the video of the meeting here. Or you can read Texas Scorecard's article about it here. Sometimes non-compliance is the only solution.
Challengers To the Dirty Dozen
I know that by now you've watched this film and shared it with others. It's the most viewed video that Scorecard has ever done! I'm linking it here just in case you want to review, or send it to another friend.
There are a whole bunch of non Republican Republicans in the Texas House that need to be replaced! This documentary, identifies the worst of the worst - the Dirty Dozen. Study their names, their district locations, their challengers, and then get ready to defeat as many as possible in March 2024.
We're featuring a challenger to the Dirty Dozen every week. Please visit their websites, donate and/or volunteer if you can, and show them some love on social media!
The first week we featured David Lowe, who is challenging Stephanie Klick.
The second week we intro'd Dennis London, who is challenging Justin Holland.
Third week, we featured Mike Olcott, who is challenging Glen Rogers.
This week we feature another well known and favorite Patriot, Andy Hopper. Andy is challenging Lynn Stucky in District 64. Andy is the co-founder of Wise County Patriots, and has partnered with True Texas Project on many projects over the past 4 years. Andy's leadership in the conservative movement is exemplary, and he can be counted on to stand on the promises he makes. Check out his website here, to volunteer or donate. (Remember - even those little $5 or $10 donations mean a lot because candidates are judged not only on how much they raise, but how many individual donations are made!)
Who should we feature next week for #5? Send us your suggestions!
Let Us Pray
Lord, we lift up all those attending the constitutional boot camps and all other TTP events, the citizen advocates representing us in Austin, and all those You are calling on to step up in the primaries. We pray that Your unfailing love, strength, and peace would flood us all for your never ending glory. Amen.
Fran's Friday Message
Since Fran is doing the weekly newsletter this week, Fran did NOT do a Fran's Friday Message. Everyone should probably tell Fran to stop slacking off! 🤣
Sincerely,
Fran

PS: Here's an ACTION ITEM for you.
Remember the Movie "Grid Down Power Up"? We featured it a while back with Senator Bob Hall. There's an effort on to remind our government that they STILL have not fixed the threats to our electric grid. On Monday Sept 18, everyone is encouraged to unite their voices and request that Gov Abbott place grid security on a special call for the legislature.
You can request a text reminder and sample letter to Gov Abbott by clicking here GridDownMovie.com/text.
If you are not interested in a reminder text or sample letter, you can email or call the Governor and PUC and ERCOT at the contacts below.
