John, The “Summer Slump” is something campaigns face every year. School’s out for the summer, the weather is nice, people head out on vacation, and our fundraising numbers always take a dip. It’s a phenomenon we’ve come to expect! And let’s be clear — we still want you to go on vacation. But can we explain why the “Summer Slump” is such a big deal? First, the campaign fell short of hitting our goals in August, putting us in a worse position than we were anticipating heading into the fall. This affects our ability to do three critical things:
The goals we set aren’t arbitrary. Our organizing program, digital ads, heck — even the ability to get buttons and yard signs for Adam’s thousands of supporters across the state — depend on how much we raise from emails just like this one. This would be one of the worst times for us to miss a fundraising goal. John, chip in $3 or anything you can spare toward our $75,000 weekend fundraising goal to help us defeat the summer slump.

This is the most challenging stretch yet of our campaign — and the most critical. Thank you, Team Schiff
