Last week we filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina Symphony on behalf of three musicians who were fired for refusing to get the COVID vaccine.
And if we can win this critical legal battle, we can put employers across the country on notice ahead of this so-called “COVID resurgence.”
Dovid was the assistant concertmaster and first violinist, while Chris and Rachel both played the French Horn.
These are some of the most talented musicians in the country that were in highly coveted and competitive positions.
Each of them had been in the Symphony for over a decade.
When the Symphony introduced their COVID vaccine mandate, it offered both religious and medical exemptions.
Dovid, Chris, and Rachel each held sincere religious beliefs that prohibited from taking the vaccine, and they all filed their exemptions and were willing to take other measures like regularly testing to prove they didn’t have COVID.
But just a day after they submitted their exemptions, the Symphony rejected ALL of them and shortly thereafter put them on a year of UNPAID LEAVE.
Just point illustrate how ridiculous the Symphony’s vaccine mandate really was—patrons, sitting mere feet away from musicians, didn’t have to be vaccinated, but our clients lost their jobs for not taking the vaccine.
Even after the Symphony lifted its vaccine mandate, it refused to give these musicians their jobs back.
We won’t take this attack on their freedoms lying down, because it’s an attack on your freedoms too.
We all saw in the news recently that a public school in Maryland announce it is reinstating its mask mandate.
And with USA Today and others reporting the “rise” of COVID infection rates, Americans are rightfully concerned that COVID restrictions could be returning.
We cannot allow the North Carolina Symphony to get away with firing musicians for refusing a COVID vaccine.
