This is a disappointing day for Texans, with Ken Paxton being acquitted in his impeachment trial.

Texans have suffered under his decisions and betrayal of the public trust – from attacking LGBTQ+ and women’s rights, to using his office’s power and resources to his personal advantage. Paxton even undermined our country’s founding democratic principles when he tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Attorney General is supposed to be the People’s Lawyer; the Office of Attorney General affects the daily lives of every person living in the state. It is not an office that caters to the personal whims and wishes of the elected official who holds it, and it is a tragedy that Ken Paxton has treated his office as such. We believe every state deserves an AG who will put their constituents first, and the Texas AG seat is NOW on the 2026 DAGA map with Paxton’s political image taking a big hit this year.

We believe Attorneys General must respect the rule of law and make their constituents their top priority. Please, friend, add your name now if you agree the office of Attorney General is no place for someone like Ken Paxton.
