Hi John,

There are storms here in Austin today, and that makes sense: It’s a dark day in Texas.

We’ve just watched our state’s Republican senators use their majority power to block the impeachment of Ken Paxton. Apparently it doesn’t matter that he’s obviously unfit for office and abused that office left and right; all that matters is the R beside his name on the ballot.

President Kennedy famously wrote about U.S. Senators who showed bravery and integrity, even when it was hard and even when it required breaking ranks with their parties. When the Texas version of Profiles in Courage is written, the Republican senators today won’t be in it.

I’m angry, and I’m going to spend tonight being angry. But tomorrow I’m getting back to work on school vouchers … because here’s the truth:

Texas and Texans may have lost the impeachment vote, but we are NOT losing our public schools.

Not if we — the hundred thousand of us here, and the millions of Texas families our movement fights for — have anything to say about it.

We’ve already raised almost $20,000 to fund our fight for public schools, and our Friday Night Lights ad ([link removed]) is going out to all the fans in one Texas high school football stadium. The question now is: Can we get this ad out all across the state come next Friday night?
