Hey John, it's Wendy Davis.

Barbie has been in the news lately, so I wanted to reach out. Back when I ran for Texas governor in 2014, Greg Abbott and his right-wing defenders nicknamed me "Abortion Barbie" -- and I'll never let them forget it.

That nickname was purposefully inflammatory and out of touch -- and Republicans thought I would be embarrassed to be called out for my pro-choice views. They were wrong. Let's not forget that back when I was running for Texas governor, kids playing with Barbies had more reproductive rights than they do right now, as adults. 

If the GOP had their way, women would be just like Barbie: plastic, idealized stereotypes with a superficial place in a male-dominated world. That's why I'm reaching out today to ask you to donate to EMILYs List.
