In 2021, Georgia Republicans redrew our Congressional districts in a clear effort to disenfranchise Black voters and kick me out of Congress. I have always been clear. I will not allow Republicans and their NRA donors to decide whether or not I serve my community in Congress. Thanks to the power of my grassroots supporters, I won again.

Now, there’s an ongoing trial happening regarding Georgia’s electoral maps. The judge will be ruling on whether or not the General Assembly discriminated against Black residents when they gerrymandered the state two years ago, a process that allowed the GOP to gain a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

We don’t know how the Court will rule, but we do know this: Republicans tried their hardest to bend the rules to get me out of office, and they’ll try again in a heartbeat. It’s clear that Republican legislators used shady tactics to stretch districts with heavy Black representation into areas that had more white Republican voters. This is a direct attempt to diminish the power of their votes in an attack against our Democratic process.

My bold leadership in Congress on key issues such as gun violence prevention, COVID relief for working families, and lowering the cost of prescription drugs made me a threat to the GOP agenda. I wasn’t afraid to speak up, so they tried to silence me by removing me from Congress altogether.
