own union!

Dear MoveOn member,

In their latest union-busting attempt, Trader Joe's corporate has sunk to
a new low—suing their own union for trademark infringement.^1 Our union,
Trader Joe’s United, released merch this summer. Just a week later, we
were slapped with a legal threat, a blatant attempt to intimidate our
union members into closing our merch store and deprive us of vital funds.

Despite Trader Joe's branding itself as a progressive employer, crew
members at its stores have recently experienced high turnover, declining
benefits, and stagnating wages. And union-busting actions like this
lawsuit are not only harming workers but also contradicting the company’s
own stated values. [ [link removed] ]Show that union busting is bad for workers and bad
for business by signing this petition demanding that Trader Joe's drop
their anti-union lawsuit!

We might not have bottomless resources or an army of anti-union lawyers,
but we have something even more powerful—you. Demand that Trader Joe's
drop the lawsuit and put an end to the intimidation and threats against
union members!

Trader Joe's United is an independent labor union, 100% founded and
powered by the incredible workers who make Trader Joe's such a special
place to shop. We are bagging groceries and stocking shelves, all while
volunteering our time outside of work to build a movement to improve
working conditions for all crew members.

Trader Joe's corporate is intimidated because our union is gaining
momentum—four stores have already won their union elections, and hundreds
of crew members across the country have reached out about doing the same.
Despite Trader Joe's hiring a union-busting law firm and fighting us every
step of the way, we refuse to be bullied out of building power and
advocating for everyday workers.^2

[ [link removed] ]We want Trader Joe's to return to the policies and practices that
originally made it a great place to work and shop. To achieve that, Trader
Joe's needs to stop union busting and drop the lawsuit. Sign the petition
and then share it with three friends to help spread the word.

Thanks for all you do.

–Jamie Edwards, Trader Joe’s United President
