[1]U.S. Senator Chris Murphy

One of the most important things we can do for American families is raise the minimum wage.

The last increase in the federal minimum wage was 14 years ago. Base worker pay has been stuck at $7.25 for that long. It has been catastrophic for families. You cannot live on $7.25 an hour in this country.

Will you add your name to mine to tell my colleagues in Congress that we must urgently raise the minimum wage?

This is the longest period of time without an increase to the minimum wage since it was established.

During this time, the average CEO compensation at the largest 350 companies has increased by 150%, from around $10 million to $25 million per year. It’s outrageous.

There is something fundamentally wrong about this disparity.

Opponents try to claim that our economy will suffer if we raise the minimum wage. But that’s just not true. When we raise the minimum wage, it lifts all boats. City after city has seen it stimulate the local economy.

When more people earn a living wage, it puts more money into local businesses and fuels growth for everyone.

I believe we should raise the minimum wage to as close to $20 as possible, but what’s most important is that we get this done.

So I’m going to push as hard as I can, but I need your help. If you agree that we must raise the federal minimum wage, please add your name today to demand action from Congress.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
