"Partisanship obscures what the extremes of both parties have in common."

That was the opening line of my op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal, John.

If you want proof of it – then look no further than the dysfunction of the
Senate over what should have been business as usual for our senators.

Just one Senator has been holding up the nomination of 301 generals and
admirals over the Pentagon abortion policies. On the other side, Bernie Sanders
has been holding up for key public health leadership positions, impacting
critical areas like cancer research.

Both sides keep holding our institutions hostage to score political points.

Both are distractions – but as a cancer survivor, I find the Left's hold on
appointing Bertagnolli's nominationdisgraceful.

We are making remarkable progress against the scourge of cancer. This
appointment of an experienced leader should have been a cause for unity – not
toxic political maneuvering.

It should shock no one as to WHY the American people have such little faith in
Congress – as they continually force us to be spectators of their divisive
political theater.

This is why I'm working closely with An America United to restore faith in our
institutions and show Americans that we can work together, across the aisle and
create common sense solutions.

Join our movement and help us restore faith in our institutions by showing our
leaders we want them to work together and drop the partisan posturing.
