Congressman Van Drew Travels Across South Jersey

This week, I returned to Washington DC after having the privilege of traveling across South Jersey for the past month, engaging in hundreds of conversations on how I can best serve your interests in Congress. This August recess has allowed me to highlight what I am doing for you as your Congressman, as well as hear directly from you on a number of important issues impacting the American people. I am ready to hit the ground running to deliver on those priorities.

Congressman Van Drew Pays Homage to Those Lost During 9/11 with 177th Fighter Wing

This week, I had the honor of joining the 177th Fighter Wing at Atlantic City International Airport in remembrance of those that lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. Next door at the William J. Hughes Technical Center, we are fortunate to house the Federal Air Marshals, whose rigorous training safeguards our skies every day. Their tireless efforts are a reminder that the cost of freedom is the unending commitment to protecting it.

The 177th Fighter Wing also dedicated a new memorial to the victims of that horrific day consisting of two steel beams recovered from Ground Zero on a pentagon-shaped base. This memorial will stand for coming generations as a reminder of the heroic men and women we lost on 9/11.

Congressman Van Drew Joins Fox Business to Discuss Liberal Attacks on NYC For "Mishandling" Border Crisis

This week, I joined Fox Business' Elizabeth MacDonald to discuss the mounting strain on sanctuary cities that are housing the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants flowing across our southern border.

The crisis at our southern border is not just a Texas, Arizona, or California problem, it is a United States of America problem. Cities and states across the country are feeling the pressure of out-of-control illegal immigration.

House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Holds Hearing on Record-High Border Encounters of Aliens on Terrorist Watchlist

This week, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement heard testimony from experts on border security regarding the illegal immigration crisis on our southern border and how open-border policies make the United States more vulnerable to terrorist threats.

I asked Former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott if our wide-open southern border posed a threat to our national security, and he responded that Border Patrol is currently forgoing necessary screening for immigrants, making the United States more susceptible to terrorists crossing our southern border.

House Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit Holds Hearing on the Effects of AI on the Trucking Industry

This week, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit heard testimony from leaders in the trucking industry and experts in artificial intelligence (AI) on the potential impacts of AI on trucking and highway safety.

I questioned witnesses on what role they believed truckers had in a proposed switch to AI-driven trucking. A switch from human to AI drivers would put millions of truck drivers out of work. Truckers are the backbone of our supply chain, and I will continue to fight for the security of their jobs.
