Letter from the Mayor

Dear Washingtonians,

This week, I had the pleasure of joining local artists and creatives to announce the return of?Theatre Week [ [link removed] ]. Theatre Week will start on Thursday,?September 21 and go through Sunday, October 8. During that time, you can get specially priced tickets to shows across DC.?If you want to learn more about the many Theatre Week options, there will be a free? [ [link removed] ]kickoff event at Arena Stage [ [link removed] ] on Saturday, September 23.?

We know that without theater and the arts, we would live in a black and white world. But when we have a city that supports the arts and supports artists, then we have a city that is bursting with color. And one of the best ways for our city to show our appreciation for artists and creatives is by buying tickets ? by going out to the theater, taking a friend to the theater, talking about the theater, and filling our theater seats.?

We have a fantastic theater scene in DC. From the Anacostia Arts and Culture District, to H Street NE, to Downtown, and all across DC?? at theaters big and small, the well-known theaters and the lesser-known theaters?? artists are putting on fantastic shows.?

And there are other upcoming opportunities to support the arts. On Thursday, September 28, I'll be hosting the Mayor's Arts Awards at the Lincoln Theatre [ [link removed] ]. And then, that weekend, on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30, we will have Art All Night [ [link removed] ], with activations across all eight wards.

So, in the coming weeks ??and really all year???let's support the arts and the artists who share their magic with our city and who keep DC creative.?

Sincerely,

Muriel Bowser
