After Court Ruling, Thousands of Mississippians Could Get Their Right to Vote ([link removed])

Here are some recent updates.
* In a win for voters, a federal judge struck down ([link removed]) parts of Arizona voter suppression law House Bill 2492 that created strict proof of citizenship requirements to vote. Other provisions of the law will be challenged at trial in November.
* After Wisconsin's Republican-controlled Senate voted ([link removed]) to remove Meagan Wolfe as leader of the state’s elections commission, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul (D) filed ([link removed]) a lawsuit arguing that the Senate lacks the power to unseat Wolfe.
+ Also in Wisconsin, the Republican-led Assembly passed ([link removed]) a bill to create a "nonpartisan" redistricting process that would still give lawmakers final say over maps. Democratic legislators and Gov. Tony Evers (D) slammed the proposal, which now goes to the state Senate.
* For a second time, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) rejected ([link removed]) ballot language for a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would create a citizen-led, independent redistricting commission in the state.
+ Also in Ohio, the state announced it will share ([link removed]) voter information with Florida, Virginia and West Virginia in an effort to maintain voter rolls after the four Republican-led states left the Election Registration Information Center ([link removed]) , a bipartisan voter data group, due to right-wing conspiracy theories.
* Voting and civil rights attorney Allison Riggs was sworn ([link removed]) in as a justice on the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Here’s what’s coming up on Monday.
* A hearing will be held ([link removed]) in the Fulton County election subversion case. Jeffrey Clark, who worked at the U.S. Department of Justice during the administration of former President Donald Trump, is asking for his case to be moved to federal court.
* We will be releasing a piece about a Santa Monica neighborhood that is taking full advantage of the California Voting Rights Act.
