Thank you for all you do for the Democratic Party in District of Columbia County. I’m reaching out today to ask you to become a County Precinct Committee Person (PCP). As you may know, PCPs play a key grassroots role in the Democratic Party.
This is an important opportunity to run for PCP and be a voice for your communities and issues in the Party. Bottom line – the Democratic Party and our country need you to serve.

What is a PCP?: Becoming a PCP is a direct route to influencing your county, state, and national Democratic Parties. It’s also the key grassroots position within the governing body of the party. You serve a two-year term from time of election in even numbered years. You also get a voice and a vote in party processes and have the power to fill vacant state legislative seats. There are thousands of these positions available across the state - if you’ve been looking for a way to make an impact and get involved in politics this is the opportunity for you to become an important part of our Party’s infrastructure.
Key Duties of a PCP include:
- PCPs represent their precincts in votes of their local County Democratic Party
- Help set priorities for their County and State Democratic Party

Have a voice and vote in filling vacant legislative seats
- PCPs are elected every two years during the primary elections - this year held on May 21st

Filing Opens: September 14th, 2023
Filing Deadline: March 12th, 2024
Election: May 21st, 2024
Voter Registration: You must be registered to vote in the county where you are applying to serve as a PCP and you must return your filing form to your local county elections office. You must also be a registered Democrat in your precinct for a minimum of 180 days prior to your filing date in order to become a Democratic PCP. You can look up both your county of residence and precinct here.
