Team,

The United Auto Workers (UAW) have gone on strike against all Big Three automakers for the first time in history. And since late last night, I’ve been standing by their side on the picket line.

Autos workers are fighting for fair wages and benefits, cost of living adjustments to protect against inflation, and a just transition towards electric vehicles. The workers I’ve been with day and night are building our auto industry with their own bare hands, and they deserve to be compensated for the work that they do.

UAW workers have made sacrifices in the past to ensure the automotive industry survived, and now it’s time for companies experiencing record profits to repay the auto workers.

As a member of Congress, a lifelong Michigander, and a car girl, I know these workers deserve decent pay, a secure retirement, and to be able to provide for their families. It’s not too much to ask.

I'm proud to stand with the UAW in their fight for fair wages and benefits, and to defend the American auto industry that put the world on wheels.

I hope that you'll join me in supporting the UAW and its hardworking members. The fight for workers is a fight for all Americans.

Thank you,

– Debbie
