Governor Mike DeWine ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on September 11 to remember those who were killed in the terrorist attacks.?
Lt. Governor Jon Husted traveled to Gibsonburg to provide remarks at a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the village's Public Safety Services Memorial. The memorial is made from steel that was recovered from the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and is designed to recognize and honor the dedication, service and sacrifices of police, fire, EMS and other public safety services personnel to make their communities better places for everyone.

Governor DeWine attended the first meeting of the new Ohio School Bus Safety Working Group. Governor DeWine created the group to examine school transportation safety related to several factors such as seat belts, driver training, bus inspections, critical incident protocol, and crash risk factors.
During the meeting, group members examined topics related to school bus rules and regulations, design and maintenance, and driver licensing and certification.?

Governor DeWine announced the availability of state training resources aimed at giving Ohio school athletics coaches the tools they need to help student athletes struggling with their mental health. The recently passed biennial budget -- House Bill 33 -- includes a provision that requires all coaches to complete the training before they can apply for or renew their pupil activity program permits.
?Coaches know how to motivate young people and lead them to success on the field, but may not be aware of how to help student-athletes with the challenges they may be facing off the field,? said Governor DeWine. ?The goal is to give coaches the tools they need to help identify student athletes who may be struggling and connect them with the help they need.?
Governor DeWine joined Cleveland officials to talk about efforts to reduce violent crime.
Governor DeWine joined local officials in Cleveland to provide a status update on the progress of the state's ongoing violence reduction partnership with the Cleveland Police Department.
Last month, Governor DeWine announced that several state agencies would support local law enforcement's work to combat violent crime by?providing a concentrated influx of resources and personnel to criminal hot spots.

Governor DeWine reconvened the first meeting of the Ohio Redistricting Commission on Wednesday morning to swear-in members.?
The Ohio Department of Development and TourismOhio announced the launch of a new statewide trail on Ohio.org for history enthusiasts interested in exploring Ohio?s past.
On June 14, 2022, Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 340 designating September as International Underground Railroad Month. With this passage, Ohio joined 11 other states in honoring this historic movement.??
?It is important that we remember the legacy and impact of the Underground Railroad on this country, as well as Ohio?s prominent role in its operation,? Gov. DeWine said. ?We?ve created this new trail to show both visitors and Ohioans how to learn more about Ohio?s history as an important connector on the Underground Railroad.??

Governor DeWine joined members of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation to deliver remarks at their board meeting. The OneOhio Recovery Foundation was established to guide the distribution of funding the state will receive from the pharmaceutical industry as a consequence of its role in the national opioid epidemic. |

Drivers entering Ohio will soon be welcomed with signs bearing the state?s new branding and slogan ? Ohio, The Heart of it All. The signs will replace older and outdated signs at major entry points to the state.
Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Development announced the reimagined Ohio, The Heart of it All brand on May 10 during Ohio Tourism Day. The tagline was previously the state?s tourism slogan between 1984 and 2001.
?There is endless fun, excitement, joy, and adventure here in Ohio, but our state is more than just a travel destination,? said Governor DeWine. ?There is no better place to live, learn, work, and play, and now, everyone who crosses into Ohio will know that they're entering the Heart of it All."

Lt. Governor Husted, who serves as Director of the Governor?s Office of Workforce Transformation, announced the results of the July round of TechCred, in which 430 employers were approved for funding, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 4,961 tech-focused credentials.?
The program helps?businesses address their workforce needs by?upskilling current and prospective employees. Businesses?of all sizes,?from any?industry, are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year. Some of the top industries awarded during this round include Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation and Warehousing Services.
?Not everyone thinks of construction when they think of technology, but every industry is impacted by how technology is changing the way we work,? said Lt. Governor Husted. ?Through this round of TechCred, we had an increase of construction companies apply to upskill or reskill their employees, demonstrating the need for new skills in the industry. I look forward to seeing this trend continue throughout the state and in other industries.?

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced that nearly two dozen communities will receive funding to complete critical infrastructure and neighborhood improvement projects that improve quality of life for local residents.
More than $13.8 million in Neighborhood Revitalization and Critical Infrastructure grants will be awarded to 23 communities for projects such as new community centers, upgraded water infrastructure, road and bridge improvements, new fire hydrants, and recreation enhancements.?
?Investing in our communities? infrastructure isn?t just about building bridges and roads; it?s about nurturing economic growth and safeguarding the health and well-being of Ohioans,? said Governor DeWine. ?The projects we?re supporting with this funding underscore our commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Ohio for all.?

Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine welcomed country music superstar Luke Bryan to Ohio to support families and children who face hunger throughout the state. One in eight Ohioans faces food insecurity, including nearly 400,000 children in Ohio.
?Mike and I share Luke Bryan?s commitment to fighting hunger and helping families find enough food to eat,? said Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine. ?It?s a blessing that Luke came to share his spotlight on this need, as we all work together to help tackle the issue of food insecurity in Ohio.? Each of us can take action, help our fellow Ohioans, and make a real difference.?
First Lady DeWine hosted the lunch and spoke with Bryan about his ongoing Farm Tour, which celebrates America?s farmers and supports families facing food insecurity across the country. This year marks Bryan?s 14th Farm Tour - including a stop in Ohio - and features the #HeresToTheFarmer campaign, which has already donated 6 million meals to Feeding America with partner Bayer. Since 2008, when the Farm Tour began, Bryan has also granted 78 scholarships to students from farming families near tour stops to their local college or university. ?
