Michelle Li
Co-Founder of The Very Asian Foundation, Veteran Journalist
Michelle Li is an award-winning, veteran journalist who co-launched the Very Asian Foundation in January 2022 alongside friend and fellow journalist Gia Vang. Her response to a racist voicemail led to global unity and caught the attention of The Ellen Show, which contributed $15,000 to kickstart a non-profit dedicated to promoting Asian culture through advocacy and celebration. The Very Asian Foundation raised substantial funds for AANHPI nonprofits, initiated The May Book Project for youth literature awareness, and established the Very Asian Creators microgrant program to support career transitions.
A Korean adoptee, Michelle has spent many years supporting adoptees through heritage camps, volunteer trips to Korea, and initiating a program to aid foster children in Missouri. Michelle's media appearances include CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, and The Washington Post. She authored a children's book titled "A Very Asian Guide to Korean Food" in collaboration with Gloo Books. Currently, Michelle and her family reside in St. Louis.
