Deborah’s Original Message:

In the aftermath of the August 28th shooting on the UNC campus, we were painfully reminded of the scourge of gun violence in our country.

I remain heartbroken for the family of Professor Yan, the UNC students and staff, their families, and the Chapel Hill community who endured the fear and now the trauma of yet another instance of senseless gun violence.

Students should not have to feel unsafe at school. But, that is the unfortunate reality today. It’s time for action to end this epidemic, once and for all.

I pledge to continue fighting for common-sense gun safety and red flag laws in Congress. If you’re with us, add your name here. [[link removed]]

In the wake of yet another tragedy, “thoughts and prayers” are simply not enough. We must take bold, immediate steps to end this preventable crisis and protect our communities against further violence.

The special interests who oppose gun safety measures continue to distort the truth and spread misinformation that we’re trying to dismantle the second amendment and that law-abiding citizens won't have access to guns. That’s a lie.

The truth is — the majority of Americans want common-sense gun safety measures. It’s past time for Washington to get it done.

I’m recommitting to the work ahead to end gun violence once and for all. Sign your name next to mine demanding Congress pass common-sense gun safety legislation immediately. [[link removed]]
