Dear John,
I hope you’re doing well! It’s been a busy summer, and I wanted to let you know some of what I’ve been up to.
I’ve spent my public service career advocating for more convenient, efficient and accessible health care. That’s why last month I voted against increasing health insurance premiums in my capacity on the CalPERS board of directors. In case you missed it, check out my recent op-ed where I articulate a vision for reducing costs, enhancing equity and saving lives through more innovative approaches to catch and treat high cost drivers early.
As a member of SAG-AFTRA and a staunch advocate for the rights of workers, I’ve been actively advocating for a better deal for striking writers and actors. I authored letters to the CEOs of several Hollywood studios urging them to bargain in good faith and stand up for workers.
Housing and quality of life are a centerpiece of my work. I’m out touring affordable housing projects to find out what’s working and what’s not, and have been working with facilities in Southern California to address food insecurity.
These are just some of the big issues our communities face, and we can only make a difference by working together. I am proud to be supported by a large, diverse coalition, coming in as the top fundraiser of all candidates in the State of California in the last fundraising period.
This wouldn’t be possible without your incredible support. Thank you for being on this journey with me as we work to level the playing field for all Californians.
