Dear Friend,
This week, we returned to Capitol Hill and I wanted to provide an update on the work we are doing in Congress for Maryland's First District and our Country. Let's dive in:
Passed legislation blocking the Biden Administration from banning gas and diesel-powered vehicles.
This week, we passed the Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act which prohibits the Environmental Protection Agency from allowing states to implement rules that directly or indirectly ban the sales of vehicles with internal combustion engines.
The majority of vehicles owned by Americans have combustion engines so banning them would be a disaster for hard working Americans. Hard-working Americans, not Washington bureaucrats and their liberal allies, should be able to decide what cars best suit their needs and this legislation would protect that choice.
Addressing Washington's Reckless Spending:
After years of reckless spending, the U.S. debt is now more than $32 trillion and the federal budget deficit will explode to $2 trillion this year - after Biden said it would decrease. Short-term spending patches and failure to follow the regular budget process are digging the U.S. into an even deeper financial hole. Our national debt is a major threat to our national security, and Congress must act to end the reckless spending.
Just this week, the Consumer Price Index revealed inflation rose to 3.7% in August. Hard-working Americans are struggling to make their paychecks last as long as they used to and it's clear, "Bidenomics" is not working for the American people.
We need to control the runaway spending that is fueling this record inflation - and the budget fight this month is the time to do it.
Since Joe Biden took office, the U.S. debt has skyrocketed to $32 Trillion. Do you think Washington's spending habits are the problem?
