Courier provides reliable news coverage in “news deserts” across the country, with no paywalls or subscription fees.
John,
The mainstream media is failing. By prioritizing profits and the illusion of “balance,” the public is losing trust in one of democracy’s most important institutions. To make matters worse, by chasing clicks and rushing to present “both sides of the story,” many media organizations consequently provide oxygen to right-wing bad actors and their efforts to spread misinformation.
It’s how Donald Trump became President. It’s how climate change denialism became mainstream. It’s how anti-vaccine propaganda spread to every corner of the Internet.
We could go on and on, but here’s the good news:
Courier was founded as a bold response to these failures. We don’t chase profit and will never compromise our values in our reporting.
Our mission is to bring reliable, trustworthy news to the communities that need it most. We call out misinformation in real time, by providing context and factual reporting in the spaces where misinformation thrives.
Currently, we’re operating in nine states, but we want to keep expanding! By providing credible, fact-based coverage in battleground states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, and Nevada, we can keep voters in these key states informed as they head to the ballot box next year.
And we do it without paywalls or subscription fees in order to make our reporting as accessible as possible.
But running a growing network of newsrooms doesn’t come cheap, and without the revenue stream provided by subscription fees, we rely on contributions from donors like you to sustain our operations. Today we’re approaching our mid-month fundraising deadline for the month of September, so we’re reaching out to ask for your help.
If you want to support Courier's mission of providing accessible, reliable, honest journalism that's committed to combating misinformation, please consider pitching in anything you can so we can meet our goal of raising $7,500 by midnight. We truly can't do it without you.
