Join Us In The Fight Back Against The Tory Party During Their Conference in Manchester


We have a number of great events planned as part of our Festival Of Resistance during the Tory Party Conference. Events are in the marquee we'll have in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester City Centre unless otherwise specified.

On Saturday 30th

12.00 Manchester Unwelcomes The Tories. Watch this space for more details.

-1.30 Support The Strikes - Scrap Anti Trade Union Laws. Martin Cavanagh PCS President, Lindsey German Activist & Author. More speakers to be confirmed.

-3.00 Andrew Murray book launch, 'Is Socialism Possible In Britain? Reflections On The Corbyn Years.' See Facebook event here ([link removed]) for more info.

-7.30 Stick It To The Tories - Big Night Out, with the brilliant Barbara Nice (actor and comedian) who will be comparing and performing; as well as other fantastic performers including Jonathan Mayor providing comedy, Barbarella and Dave Randell providing music, Jeremy Corbyn and Laura Pidcock providing some political contributions and poets, Gerry Potter and Steph Pike. On Sunday 1st October

12.00 National Demonstration (the conference begins that day). Assemble on Oxford Road outside Manchester Museum at noon. From there, we’ll head up Oxford road, we'll stop next to the conference to make lots of noise and call with a united voice to kick the Tories out. We'll then march on to Castlefield Bowl for a rally with powerful speeches from a range of key figures from the trade union and campaign movement. This includes Mick Lynch (RMT General Secretary), Daniel Kebede (NEU General Secretary), Fran Heathcote (PCS President), Jeremy Corbyn MP/ Peace and Justice Project, Lindsay German Stop The War Coalition Convenor, Kate Hudson CND General Secretary, Ellen Clifford DPAC, as well as many more from campaigns such as anti racism, NHS, climate justice. Monday 2nd October

-1.00-3.00 The Peoples Assembly is supporting the Junior Doctor and Consultant Rally (British Medical Association) who are striking about pay from 2-4th Oct and are holding a national rally on the doorstop of the Tory Party Conference (as the Political Party in office currently). They're assembling in St Peters Square, Manchester at 12.30pm

-4.00 Rank and File Combine How Do We Reboot The Strike Wave? More details to follow.

-5.00 Stand Up Top Racism Protest (in response to the Home Secretary whose speech is at 5pm that day)

-6.00 Defend Our NHS: Support The Strikes - Banner Theatre performance and speakers.Speakers include Dr John Puntis Keep Our NHS Public, Karen Reissmann Unison (in a personal capacity), Andrew Meyerson A&E Doctor.

We'll have art in the marquee in Piccadilly Gardens from Andrew Swan called, 'STINKING RICH: The Cost Of Wealth.' This explores the impact extreme wealth is having on our local communities and environment.

The 'Hell Bus' will be coming to town too and will be parked on St Annes Square during the Tory Conference. The bus has great exhibitions with interactive installations. These satirise the oil and gas companies attempts to 'greenwash' their companies and convince the world they have good environmental policies and intentions.

It's important we make the National Demonstration as big and as bold as possible. Following 13 years of extremely destructive Tory rule, we collectively need to show the we're saying enough is enough, we do not accept their government, their policies or them. We can only do that if we come out in our tens of thousands across the whole of the movement.

We will also continue to hold to account any subsequent government that does not govern in the interest of the many.

Coaches To The Demonstration - People’s Assembly groups across the country are organising transport to our Demonstration. Details of coaches can be found here ([link removed]) . This will be regularly updated. Also, find your nearest People's Assembly group ([link removed]) to book a space on a coach today. Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
