It wasn’t just a Hot Labor Summer — workers across the country are
continuing to keep up the fight for better working conditions, pay, and
benefits.

Today, United Auto Workers (UAW) announced they’re officially going on
strike!

UAW represents more than 140,000 workers at the Big 3 automakers in
Detroit: GM, Ford, and Stellantis (formerly known as Fiat Chrysler).

This is the first time in history that UAW are going on strike against all
three motor companies at the same time, putting major pressure on these
corporations to deliver on workers’ demands.

Right now, far too many auto workers under UAW are working 60, 70, and 80
hours per week just to get by. That’s why UAW is calling for a four-day
workweek for 40 hours of pay — something they pushed for all the way back
in the 1930s and 1940s — in addition to pay raises and cost of living
adjustments.

Somehow it’s 2023 and thousands of workers are still working 10-12 hour
days on assembly lines, putting their health and safety at risk while
barely making ends meet at home. This strike isn’t just for the workers at
UAW; it’s for all of us.
