The horror we witnessed last weekend defies description. It was gut-wrenching. Classrooms. Playgrounds. Places of business. Places of worship. There are no safe spaces from gun violence and there won’t be -- until we act. Wishful thinking won’t solve this crisis. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. This is a time for action. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The horror we witnessed this past weekend defies description. It was gut-wrenching.
Classrooms. Playgrounds. Places of business. Places of worship. There are no safe spaces from gun violence and there won’t be -- until we act.
Wishful thinking won’t solve this crisis. Thoughts and prayers are not enough. This is a time for action.
It’s time to start reforming our gun laws beginning with passing HR 8 to pass universal background checks. Sign our petition to demand that Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans call HR 8 for a vote now →
An overwhelming majority (over 90 percent) of the public want to see these common sense reforms. The overwhelming majority of gun owners want to see these reforms.
Yet for years, nothing has happened.
We need to stop pretending these senseless killings are just a fact of life. They are the direct result of inaction from politicians who prioritize the gun lobby over the safety of our families.
It’s time to come together to have our voices heard loud and clear: it’s time for the US Senate to pass background checks now! >>
I will not rest until we do more to stop senseless killings.
Let’s act,
Haley
