Food & Water Watch

John,

At Food & Water Watch, we are fighting to create a healthy future for all. Like you, we want a world where everyone has food they can trust, clean drinking water and a livable climate. I’d like to share some of the progress you are helping to make happen.

This Year Marks the 15th Anniversary of Food & Water Watch!
Food & Water Watch 15th Anniversary Benefit March 24 New York

We would not be celebrating 15 years without you! Your stories, your support and your communities are why over the last 15 years, we’ve grown in our grassroots power — reaching from New York to California — mobilizing the public to build their political power in order to enact bold solutions on the most pressing food, water and climate issues. You are the reason we won fracking bans in New York, Maryland and Washington, and why we fight for a world where everyone has food they can trust, clean drinking water and a livable climate.

To launch our special anniversary year, we will be celebrating in New York City on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. And you’re invited!

I invite you to join us as we work towards the next 15 years of creating a healthy future for all people for generations to come.

Washington State Senate Passes Ban on Bottled Water Extraction

The Washington State Senate recently voted to approve legislation to ban one of the worst corporate water abuses — the extraction of local water supplies for bottled water. The legislation will help protect the state’s water resources by keeping its limited freshwater supplies in-state. The legislation now moves to the state House of Representatives.

We’re Fighting for the National Fracking Ban Bill

We know that emissions from fracking are fueling the climate crisis, and we have seen the toll fracking has taken on the health and safety of communities across the country. That’s why Food & Water Watch has championed the national Fracking Ban Act — the first-ever federal legislation that would ban all fracking and related infrastructure projects. The bill is sponsored by Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cotez, among others. We’re now mobilizing support for the bill. We helped bring together more than 570 national, regional and local grassroots groups to endorse the bill and we’re now urging members of Congress to co-sponsor the legislation.

Bernie Has One Bill to Fight All Four of Fracking’s Fatal Flaws

The fracking corporations know that if they don’t expand their hold on American energy production, their days are numbered. It comes down to a choice between our future or their profits, and Senator Bernie Sanders has a new bill that will help us end their reign for good.

Meltdown: The Dangerous Nuclear Option for Climate Control

As the climate crisis grows more urgent, clear-eyed advocates and policymakers are calling for solutions that will stave off environmental catastrophe: ending the use of fossil fuels, banning fracking and making an immediate and just transition to clean, renewable energy.

Others are calling for timid, problematic measures like nuclear power. Neither clean nor renewable, nuclear power comes at too high a cost to the environment and the public.
