Hey John,
I learned as an army captain that when your motto is "leave no one behind", then you have to check in regularly.
It's been a moment since we did that as a team.
So I've got a simple question: What's on your mind? Use this form to send me your thoughts.
I'm really proud of what we've accomplished in the first 8 months since Aruna and I took office. We:
- Passed (with bipartisan support) all 10 of the bills I introduced to the legislature, including a first-in-the-nation program for a paid year of service for high school graduates
- Made Maryland a leader in what it looks like to be an abortion care safe haven
- Signed the Trans Health Equality Law
- Passed critical gun safety legislation… and then got sued by the NRA (something our administration will take as a badge of honor)
But we've also had hard times. This year's mass shootings in Annapolis, Baltimore, and Salisbury are a painful reminder there's a lot more work to do to address gun violence and safety in communities all across our state. Supreme Court rulings have upended decades of work to reduce discrimination in our country. Now more than ever it’s crucial that we speak up.
I could go on, but as the saying goes: God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. So that's why I want to know what you're thinking about right now, John.
Elevate,
Wes
