We're halfway through Transit Month!

There's no slowing down this Transit Month! Transit Month 2023 is a celebration of the role of public transportation in our communities and the Bay Area’s economic, social, and cultural vibrancy. We are celebrating with events, prizes, awards, and more. Several Transit Month events organized by our partners this year are being made possible through subgrants from San Francisco Transit Riders and Seamless Bay Area.

Let's work together to Beat the Ridership Record!

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, take as many transit trips your heart desires and help us beat the Saturday September 2022 ridership record!

We will add up the total ridership for the day and report out to the public and news media if we exceeded the Saturday, September 17, 2022 ridership, which was the highest ridership of a Saturday in September during Transit Month 2022.

SFTR, Kaiser Permanente and the TJPA cordially invite you to Thrive with Transit, a forum about art, belonging, health, and transit!

Join us September 20 at 5:30 pm for a tour of Care Essentials Facility at the Salesforce Terminal, and a diverse panel at 6:00 pm to talk about how San Francisco and we can all Thrive with Transit. Confirmed guests include:

  • Anyka Howard, Executive Director of the Betti Ono Foundation
  • Adam Van de Water, Executive Director, Transbay Joint Powers Authority
  • Tarek Salaway, Kaiser Permanente’s Senior Vice-President/Area Manager of the Golden Gate Service Area

Transit Month is Taking Over the Bay Area

"Transit Month is a time to show our support for the people who ride public transit, as well as all the drivers, mechanics and others who make the service possible every day. It is so much fun to come together as riders and lift each other, empower new riders to get on the bus and celebrate all that makes our city great."

Nominate a Transit Hero for the Rider First Awards

Do you have an amazing bus driver, train operator, or station attendant who makes your rides better? Is there a person that speaks up effectively for transit and helps other riders? Or maybe you’ve seen improvements on your trips such as new transit lanes, boarding areas, better signage, or clear communication.

We are soliciting your recommendations for our 6th Annual Rider First Awards, where we will honor the people (and projects) that move transit in the Bay Area ahead. The deadline to nominate people or improvements is Sunday, September 24th @ 11:59pm.
