New Aldi at Broadway Green takes shape Construction of the new Aldi at Broadway Green, Chadderton, is moving along well. The store is part of the larger Broadway Green project, which promises to create up to 2,000 new jobs in the community. Council Leader Cllr Arooj Shah recently toured the site, expressing her enthusiasm: "It's great to see more businesses choosing to invest in Oldham; boosting our economy, adding to the choice of retail options here, and creating new jobs for local people. I was really pleased to see the build of the new store progressing so quickly, and look forward to seeing it open its doors later this year." The Aldi is conveniently located near the M62 and M60 motorways and is only two miles from Oldham's Town Centre, making it easy to access. Alongside the job opportunities, Broadway Green will also feature up to 500 new homes, adding to the 230 already built. For information on the new Aldi store |

Emergency Road Closure on the North Bound Lanes Manchester Road (A62)
United Utilities have informed the council they need to carry out an emergency repair on a sewer main. The highway has also been severely damaged and requires fixing. The work will start on Saturday, September 16, and will last for up to five days.
Due to the location of the issue, and so UU can carry out the work safely and quickly, the Oldham bound lane will be closed entirely from the M60 Junction entry to Drury Lane.
A road closure and diversion will be put in place during that time for Oldham-bound traffic. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
