John,
There are currently 1,800 Big Pharma lobbyists on Capitol Hill —that’s more than three lobbyists for every member of Congress. Many of those lobbyists were once members themselves, which gives them unprecedented access to our elected officials.
This level of corporate influence has dire consequences. A 2021 STAT study found that two-thirds of Congress received campaign contributions from Big Pharma in the 2020 election; Pfizer’s PAC alone spent over $14.8 million [[link removed]] on lobbying in 2022. Drug companies are doling out millions of dollars to lawmakers to keep the cost of life-saving medications sky-high and line the pockets of their shareholders.
This is why I refuse to take PAC money. And it’s why I founded the No PAC Caucus, comprised of bipartisan lawmakers dedicated to serving the American people above all else. People should not have to forgo their vital medication because of Big Pharma’s greed.
I will always prioritize people over profits, but it’s going to take support from as many members of Congress as possible to fight Big Pharma’s influence.
Tell Congress: Reject Big Pharma. Sign the No PAC Pledge. [[link removed]]
Sign the Petition [[link removed]]
Let’s make one thing clear: We can’t call ourselves a democracy if we don’t work for the people who elect us. We must bolt shut the revolving door between Capitol Hill and lobbying firms. We need to get corporate money out, and get to work!
In solidarity,
Ro
