Lifelong Supreme Court nominations. Declarations of war. Executive orders.
John, it’s no secret that the President of the United States has a lot of power that shapes our lives well after they’ve left office.
With all that power to change American life for decades – or even longer – how could we let someone into office without the majority of Americans’ support (like we did with Bush in 2000 and Trump in 2016!)?
I believe we deserve better from our democracy. That’s why I’m going all in to pass National Popular Vote.
National Popular Vote is an agreement between states to award their electoral votes to the candidate that wins the most votes in a presidential election. It’s the long-awaited reform our Electoral College desperately needs. And we’ve already made great progress this year!
Thanks to your activism, we passed NPV in Minnesota this year. What’s more – we have a NPV bill moving in Michigan as I write.
Michigan’s bill has already passed a state House committee, and with your support, I believe we can get it signed into law. If Michigan passes NPV, we’ll only need 50 more electoral votes worth of states to join in for it to go into effect.
But I have to be honest, John. We were really hoping to get this bill prioritized in August, and now that that deadline has passed, we’ll have to work even harder to get Michigan’s bill across the finish line this year.
This is an uphill battle, but I know that with you by our side, we can win.
Right now, we have the momentum to pass NPV in Michigan and beyond. But I need your help to see this through.
Will you rush a gift of $3 or more and capitalize on this momentum to pass NPV and secure a better democracy for us all?
I cannot overstate how important NPV is to achieving a truly representative democracy that works for us all. I hope you’ll join this historic movement.
Thank you for your continued support in this fight,
