Wisconsin Republicans vote to fire top election official as denialists tighten grip
The GOP's creeping power grab in Wisconsin picked up steam with the firing of Meagan Wolfe as the nonpartisan elections administrator, a respected and accomplished leader who is being punished for refusing to participate in the conspiracy to steal the 2020 election for Donald Trump. With the position likely left vacant, Wisconsin elections and our democracy at large will suffer — just as the GOP wants it to. It's a worrying sign of things to come, especially as the state GOP plots to impeach a newly elected state Supreme Court Justice in order to gerrymander the state and entrench one-party rule.
Take Action: Demand Republicans abandon their unconstitutional plot to impeach Justice Janet P!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Fox News' Judge Jeanine humiliated by her own co-host in brutal moment
Judge Jeanine was put in a very awkward situation on-air when she was muckraking against the new COVID vaccine booster when her own co-worker reminded her — and ALL their viewers — that Jeanine herself has been vaccinated. Oops!

New Democratic star announces run for Congress
Dr. Brian Willams for Congress: This is huge. Dr. Brian Williams is an Air Force veteran, a trauma surgeon, and the face of the next generation of Democratic leaders. Seeing the gruesome effects of gun violence first hand inspired him to take on the NRA and their Republican enablers and fight for the bold change that our country needs so dearly. He was instrumental in the passage of the first gun legisaltion in 25 years, and he's just getting started. Check out his launch video here and please join us in working to send him to Congress!
DeSantis contradicts OWN abortion legislation, claims women will not be criminalized despite law designed to do just that
Perhaps feeling the heat from the deeply dangerous and radically out-of-step policies he's foisted upon his constituents, Florida Gov. and floundering presidential wannabe Ron DeSantis is now openly contradicting the six-week abortion ban that he himself signed into law in April, insisting that women who terminate their pregnancies will not be criminalized under the prohibition. You can't have your forced-birthday cake and eat it too, Ron. [RETWEET THAT!]

Hunter Biden indicted on federal gun charges
The president's son has been indicted on three counts tied to possession of a gun while using narcotics, in a clear example of how the evil Biden crime family is exploiting the White House to get preferential treatment for...wait a minute, never mind.

Visibly irritated McCarthy dares Republican hard-liners to try to oust him in closed-door meeting
The embattled House speaker reportedly told his enemies to "move the f*cking motion" to replace him...if they dared. In response, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz took to Twitter and shared a link entitled "Kevin McCarthy is a sad, pathetic man who lies to hold on to power" and reiterated his list of demands. It looks like McCarthy's speakership, already notable for being one of the least productive in American history, is also set to be one of the shortest. LOL, and also, LMAO.
House Republicans scramble for solutions to spending impasse
For the fifteen-bajillionth time, the US government is on the verge of a shut down because Republicans can't get their shit together and agree on a budget AMONGST THEMSELVES, let alone anything that isn't immediately dead on arrival in the Senate where Democrats won't accept nihilistically cruel cuts to the social safety net. But it seems that talks between the extreme radicals in the Freedom Caucus and the regular radicals — that very pointedly do NOT include one Kevin McCarthy — are reaching at least the "dead on arrival" stage of things before the country runs out of money on the September 30, 2023. "I think we're stumbling towards a solution in spite of ourselves," said Rep. Tom Cole. Wow, that's so inspiring! This is definitely a party qualified to run the country! Not.

Trump's biggest lifeline in trial quickly evaporates
No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen: Bad news for Trump.
A US governor tried to ban guns amid "relentless" violence. The lawsuits followed swiftly
New Mexico governor Michelle Lujan Grisham tried to take action to curb the endless bloodshed from a society that has proven itself far too irresponsible to be trusted with firearms, issuing a 30-day ban on carrying firearms in public. “The time for standard measures has passed,” Lujan Grisham. “When New Mexicans are afraid to be in crowds, to take their kids to school, to leave a baseball game — when their very right to exist is threatened by the prospect of violence at every turn of — something is very wrong.” Rather than agreeing that a civilized society should not be toting semiautomatic weapons at brunch, furious Republicans AND Democrats besieged Gov. Grisham with lawsuits, and the policy is effectively dead, thanks to a restraining order. This is why we can't have nice things.
It will take years to recover from Tuberville blockade, top Navy nominee says
Sentient jockstrap and white supremacy apologist Sen.Tommy Tuberville of Alabama has been singlehandedly blocking all military promotions for months on end now over the military's abortion care policy. Democrats estimate that nearly 90 percent of general and flag officers will be impacted by Tuberville's pointless charade, with 600 officers requiring confirmation this year and more still who will have to temporarily cover vacant jobs. “The Republicans’ failure to end this blockade makes it clear: they don’t care about our leaders...they don’t care about the families who have served their country honorably for decades!" complained Sen. Liz Warren.

Real Time with Bill Maher returning to HBO without writers amid WGA strike
Who could have predicted that the smug blowhard who uses his show to regularly platform bigoted, right-wing creeps to push their repulsive ideas would also be a scab? Maher, who is a millionaire a hundred times over, previously disparaged the writer's strike and condescendingly told the strikers they "aren't owed a living as a writer" and complained they were "asking for a lot of things that are, like, kooky." He earned a sharp rebuke from Stephen King, who pointed out that “this is exactly how strikes are broken" and will now see his show picketed by the Writer's Guild. Hopefully, nobody will ever write for him again, because you know, he's not owed a living as a guy who profits off of other people's work!

But wait, there's (always) more!
Sure seems like trans people are not the threat to children
