John,
As the season starts to change (you know, if you don’t live in part of the country still experiencing a heat wave…), folks head back to school, and Congress returns to D.C. from its summer break, we wanted to share our top priorities and biggest fall fights with you.
As you know, you make all of this work possible—especially when we have to jump into action quickly to respond to emerging issues. If you are able, consider chipping in $3, $10, $35 or whatever you can to ensure we can go all-in on these campaigns:
-
Stopping Bad Internet Bills
We are continuing to organize to stop Congress from passing some truly terrible surveillance and censorship bills that lawmakers are pushing forward in the name of children’s safety.1 The problem is that all of these bills will do more harm than good—especially for vulnerable groups of all ages. Bills like KOSA, EARN IT, and STOP CSAM still have a chance of moving forward, so we’re continuing to help get calls and emails to lawmakers, organize meetings, and get press to cover all of this opposition.
-
Launching the next phase in the fight for Net Neutrality
Last week the Senate confirmed Anna Gomez to the FCC, ending a multi-year kneecapping of the agency that kept it from restoring Net Neutrality.2 Now, we’re on a tight timeline to get the agency to issue a rule that will stop ISPs like Verizon and Comcast from throttling Internet speeds and censoring content. We’re ready to work hard and fast to ensure Team Internet beats out Big Telecom!
-
Taking on facial recognition and other surveillance tech
As AI tools like ChatGPT continue to take up a lot of the air in the proverbial room, we’re focused on addressing the discriminatory and dangerous uses of AI that are already happening, like facial recognition tech. New cases of wrongful arrest continue to prove what we’ve been saying for years–the dangers of facial recognition far outweigh any benefits.3 From concerts and sporting events to schools and public housing, we’re continuing to fight to stop the tech from spreading and building up support for federal legislation banning facial recognition.
As always, we’re also prepared to jump into action when new threats emerge, when anti-rights lawmakers introduce terrible bills, or when tech companies put their bottom line before your rights.
Are you with us? The best way to support this work is to make a donation today in whatever amount you can. We’ll put your support to work right away organizing online and in-person actions, getting thousands of calls into key lawmakers, and adding our nuanced analysis to the conversations about tech and human rights.

Thanks for all you do!
