Harvest, bees and the climate crisis
------------------------------------

Dear Friend,

**Did you know I recently had the pleasure of taking part in an**[**event**]([link removed])**where we talked about bees and the importance of these wonderful insects to help pollination on the farms and smallholdings of the people we work with?**

It was great to talk about how bees provide an income to families in rural Africa as well as supplementing their diets with honey, which can also provide a range of other health benefits. We had a great discussion on how to support and encourage bees, and there were many ideas that you can use in your own garden. The session was recorded, so check out some top tips in the video:

In addition to being a celebration of bees and the harvest, we heard from Mele Nyeleti, Strategy and Fundraising Officer in Zambia, about the climate crisis and how it is affecting the districts in which she works. Mele said:

***""In the rural farming districts of Mkushi and Luano, 40% of people live on less than $1.50 per day, with many families not having enough to eat. As the climate crisis has worsened, it has become even harder for families to fight hunger and poverty as crops have been destroyed by erratic weather."***

If you would like to hear more about what Mele had to say about how the climate crisis is affecting the families we are working with, please watch our video.

Thank you for supporting farming families across rural Africa. If you would like to find out more about the work we do in these communities, or how your generosity makes a difference, please email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

With best wishes,
