Dear John,
When our work at Equality Now began more than 30 years ago, we knew that protecting and advancing the rights of women and girls would lead to peace and prosperity for everyone.
Yet, while more than half (55%) of the discriminatory laws around which we’ve campaigned have been reformed, only 14 countries have achieved full legal equality ([link removed]) . In every part of the world, women and girls continue to be treated as second-class citizens under the law.
It's time to change the rules.
We are delighted to announce the launch of We Change the Rules, our brand new podcast series hosted by award-winning journalist, writer, and broadcaster Samira Ahmed ([link removed]) .
Featuring a diverse range of activists, academics, and legal experts from across the international gender equality and human rights movements, this engaging six-part series explores the history and global impact of legislative gender and sex-based discrimination around the world.
Each episode is filled with unique insights, bold new ideas, and personal stories from some of the modern world’s most respected thought leaders, including:
* Gloria Steinem ([link removed]) , world-renowned journalist, activist, and feminist pioneer
* Julia Gillard ([link removed]) , former Prime Minister of Australia and leadership expert
* Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka ([link removed]) , former Deputy President of South Africa and Executive Director of UN Women
* Margarette May Macaulay ([link removed]) , Inter-American Commissioner President for Human Rights
* Ayesha Malik ([link removed]) , Pakistan’s first female Supreme Court judge
Officially launching today, We Change the Rules is essential listening for anyone interested in achieving legal, political, and systematic gender equality everywhere.

In solidarity,
S. Mona Sinha
