Statement on Senator Romney's Retirement


Yesterday, UTGOP Chair Rob Axson released the following statement:

SD22 Special Election Caucus

Last week, Senator Jake Anderegg resigned from his position representing Senate District 22. Thank you Sen. Anderegg for your service.


As a multi-county district, the Utah Republican Party is responsible for convening a special election caucus to elect his replacement. Per state law and our bylaws, the person chosen at this special election caucus will be appointed by the Governor to serve the remainder of Sen. Anderegg's term and face reelection in 2024 on the normal general election ballot.


If you are a state delegate in SD22 or you live in SD22 and are interested in running for the position, the information below will be relevant for you:


Date: October 11, 2023

Location: Mountain Ridge Jr. High School

  • The filing deadline is October 4, 2023 at 5pm. Filing is now open and you can file with the Party by filing out this form.


  • If you are a state delegate in Senate District 22 and have a conflict that prevents you from attending, please reach out to your respective party secretary to notify them.

Let Your Research Commence: Republican Presidential Nomination 2024

As you know, caucus will be March 5, 2024. Now is the time to start researching presidential hopefuls for the Republican ticket. Below is a list of known candidates (in alphabetical order) with a link to their websites.



Spend some time getting to know them before we make an important choice about the candidate best positioned to beat Joe Biden.


Save the date for the next Republican National Presidential Debate on September 27 at 7pm MT at the Reagan National Library. Every presidential debate has higher polling and donation expectations from the RNC than the previous debate. Donations to your preferred candidate assists their ability to qualify for the next debate.
