Port of Tacoma Commission to meet Tuesday
At their September 19 meeting, Port of Tacoma Commissioners will vote on a Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation, hear a briefing on the Port's annual budget priorities and capital investment plan and receive an update from World Trade Center Tacoma. Bring the whole family to the Port of Tacoma’s annual FREE Touch-A-Truck event coming up Saturday, Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.!
Snap a photo in front of a 42-foot-tall straddle carrier, enjoy free snacks, see a train engine up close, walk through the port’s Centennial shipping container, which is full of interesting history and displays, and view many other key maintenance and security vehicles.

Tacoma welcomes Polynesian voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa
On Aug. 30, the traditional Polynesian voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa arrived in Tacoma. It is one of two canoes on a 43,000-nautical mile circumnavigation of the Pacific Ocean to raise awareness about the importance of oceans, nature, and indigenous knowledge.
