Gov. Brian Kemp said Trump was wrong. Whoop de doo.

He was five years too late John. Democrats predicted in 2015 the incredible danger Donald Trump posed, and no one heaped high praise on us.

It’s time to stop going out of our way to graciously acknowledge that Kemp did the bare minimum of his job in eventually standing up to Trump. It creates a false sense of security, because as far as democracy and voting rights are concerned, Kemp is every bit the danger that Donald Trump is. The difference is that he’s smarter and more conniving than Trump.

While running for reelection last year, Gov. Kemp said the quiet part out loud:

“I was as frustrated as anyone else with the results [of the 2020 election], especially at the federal level. And we did something about it with Senate Bill 202.”

So if Kemp knows there was no widespread voter fraud, then what does he think he was fixing with Senate Bill 202? He was ‘fixing’ the fact that too many people were voting. This is classic voter suppression, but it’s executed at a level that Donald Trump would never be able to finesse with his ham-handed attempts to pull the levers of government.

Kemp is no friend to democracy. He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, playing the long game, trying to mask his frustration that someone as clumsy as Trump was elected and exposed the GOP’s contempt for democracy.

Here in GA-04, we’re ground zero for both Trump and Kemps' attacks on voting rights. We have to overcome their vicious tactics by turning out as many voters as possible, as Hank leads the fight in Congress to protect voting rights.
