John, I’m a proud lifelong science nerd.
When I first saw Sally Ride in her blue NASA jumpsuit, having broken barriers to become the first woman in space, I was determined to follow in her footsteps. Over the years, every class I took and book I read made me that much more of a science nerd, and eventually, I found myself studying engineering at Stanford on an ROTC scholarship.
After school, I served in the Air Force for a while as a project engineer on anti-ballistic missile defense programs. I wanted to keep learning, so I went back to school at MIT, where I got my master’s in technology and policy. I later taught high school chemistry in North Philadelphia.
I never expected STEM and politics to be the same – but it turns out they’re pretty similar. Good leaders look at the data, reject misinformation, and come up with a solution that’s rooted in fact. We’re not always right but we’re always learning. Across the Commonwealth, working families are desperate for real solutions.
Too many Republicans continue to oppose the scientific consensus and parrot misinformation when it comes to issues like climate change, the economy, LGBTQ rights, and so many other critical issues. But John, this science nerd is committed to making the facts shine through.
That’s why, with my critical end-of-quarter deadline approaching, I’m asking for your support today. I depend on dedicated supporters like you to power my fight for progress. But right-wing extremism is more prevalent than ever, and we need strong Democrats in the House to fight back against their misinformation.
Please, John: Can you give $5, $10, or whatever you’re able to help me end the quarter strong and keep up my fight for progress? Every dollar you give will allow me to continue fighting for facts and logic in Congress.
