Tonight, our contracts at Ford, General Motors and Stellantis expire at 11:59 p.m. If we don’t have a deal in hand, the Stand Up Strike will start at midnight.
UAW President Fain held a special Facebook Live last night where he:
- Gave a detailed update on negotiations all three tables.
- Explained the Stand Up Strike and how it will work.
We have also launched a new Stand Up website for UAW members with a powerful video about the Stand Up Strike and answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
If the Big Three fail to offer us fair contracts, the Stand Up Strike will target a to-be-determined number of facilities to walk out on strike at midnight tonight. As time goes on, the strike will expand to more facilities to be announced as needed.
Members at non-striking locals will work under an expired agreement, not a contract extension. Members working under an expired contract still have powerful protections.
- Watch this special video from the UAW legal team to learn more about the protections you have working under an expired agreement.
For months, UAW members at the Big Three have been standing up for our families, for our communities and against corporate greed. We have demanded our fair share of the QUARTER-TRILLION DOLLARS in North American profits that we made for the companies over the last ten years.
The UAW began with the Sit-Down Strike. Tonight, we Stand Up and carry our great union forward.
In Solidarity,
The UAW Organizing Team
