Hunters reminded of changes for fall turkey season

Fall turkey season is approaching quickly and Nebraska Game and Parks has some reminders for hunters, as there are several changes in 2023.

The changes for this fall season are:


* The fall turkey season is Oct. 1-Nov. 30.?
* Each hunter may only have one fall permit.
* The bag limit allows the take of one turkey of either sex with a shotgun or archery equipment.
* All turkey harvests must be reported via Telecheck. Turkeys may be checked online [ [link removed] ]?or by phone at 1-844-279-4564. This information will be on the permit.

Music festival coming Sept. 23 to Fremont Lakes?

Enjoy a full day of live, local music at the Continental Drift Music Festival on Sept. 23 at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area. The lineup includes?Ten O?Clock Scholars, Third Frate, All Young Girls are Machine Guns and others. A park entry permit is required; you can buy ahead of time online [ [link removed] ].

Youth invited to participate in reptile art contest

October is Nebraska Reptile Month! To celebrate, Nebraska Game and Parks is hosting its annual art contest.?Nebraska students in grades K-12 may submit their original work of a Nebraska native reptile anytime through Oct. 18, 2023. Winners will be posted on the Nebraska Wildlife Education [ [link removed] ] Facebook page.

Mentored youth waterfowl hunt is Oct. 22 at Clear Creek WMA

Youth ages 11-15 may register for the Ash Hollow Youth Mentored Waterfowl Hunt, scheduled for Oct. 22 at Clear Creek Wildlife Management Area near Lewellen.

In addition to an afternoon hunt, this daylong event includes learning stations, lunch, door prizes and raffles. There will be a drawing for a youth lifetime hunt permit.
