Hi John,
This is the biggest conservation victory - ever! Earlier this year, thanks to you and over 5 million others around the world, leaders finally took action and agreed to a Global Ocean Treaty. [1][2]
But the journey is not over yet. World governments must still sign the treaty into law and then implement it. Many people haven’t heard about this, so we’ve made a short film we need everyone to see. Can you watch and share and help us make history?

We’ve just released a new report that highlights just how much human pressures on our oceans have increased over the past five years. From industrial fishing and pollution, to the looming threat of deep sea mining – fragile ocean ecosystems can no longer withstand the strain. [3]
But there is a solution: scientists agree that covering at least 30% of our oceans in a network of sanctuaries by 2030 can protect and heal them. These areas, off-limits to destructive activities like industrial fishing and deep sea mining, provide space for marine life and ecosystems to recover and thrive.
The Global Ocean Treaty can help deliver this - but first it must be legally approved by at least 60 governments.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with an international cast of Jane Fonda, Simon Pegg and Camila Ceballo to make sure everyone around the world knows that their government can make history and truly protect our oceans. Help us spread the word, watch and share the video now.

Your voice matters. Sharing videos, signing petitions and taking action online has helped us get a Global Ocean Treaty agreed. Now we need your help again to make sure the treaty is passed into law and implemented, and that deep sea mining is banned for good. Together we can protect 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030 - make sure you act.
Thank you for everything you do,
Anthony and the Oceans team.
