Maine Conservation Voters (MCV) is working to advance environmental justice, act on climate, promote healthy and sustainable communities, and protect land, water, and wildlife. Addressing challenges like the climate crisis are too big a task to do alone—but together, we are capable of anything.
Just during my first five months at MCV, our team has:

* Helped pass critical legislation that paves the way for more renewable energy in Maine, including offshore wind and community solar.

* Amplified the voices of leaders and activists across the state by hosting storytelling workshops that empowered participants to take action and write letters to the editors of their local newspapers.

* Collaborated with the Wabanaki Alliance to build support for legislation that advances tribal self-determination.

This was only possible through the collective efforts of our dedicated team of partners and supporters. In the words of Kennebec Friend, Michelle, from Falmouth:

“We spend our time and our money on things that match our values, and what Maine Conservation Voters does is push priority agenda items that match with what I value. I value the world around us, because we can’t escape that. We are part of the world around us. Its health affects us, our choices affect the health of the world around us…The reality is that policy drives people’s behavior and puts guardrails up, and we need some guardrails.”
